This promotional video aired on my television production Rock Solid Videos 3 in August of 1990. This vintage video is not to be sold under any circumstance.

In 1983, Taylor recorded his first full length album. Released in 1984, Meltdown included some of the demo material that was not on I Want To Be A Clone along with some new material. His video single of the title track, "Meltdown (at Madame Tussaud's)" was played on MTV, which was unusual for a Christian artist at the time. The video featured an appearance by actress Lisa Whelchel.

The album also included "We Don't Need No Colour Code", which was critical of Bob Jones University and its anti-interracial dating policy, a policy abandoned by the university in 2000.

  • I don't know if it was a quid pro quo or not, but Steve Taylor wrote of the songs on Lisa Whelchel's album.

  • @chrisnich Interesting!

  • I don't understand the meaning of that message it doesn't seems it's Christian lyrics.

  • @mario4peace The message is simple and real. Everyone dies. In the lyrics, Steve sings, "You can't take it with you. There's fire in the hole! (the lake of fire in Revelations) Had the world by the tail but I lost my soul. (Matthew 16:26)"

"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Jesus from Matthew 6:20-21 NIV

  • Isn't that Lisa Welchel (Blair) from "Facts of Life"??

  • @paranoidperplexity Yes. :- )

  • @wheelsafire18 As an atheist, I second this. Everyone dies. Good song.

  • 1 person melted down

  • from what I remember I think he visited madam tussaud's

  • Great stuff! Definitely outside the box! I remember spinning this record on CCM radio back in the eighties.

  • One of the few Christian music videos to ever make it to MTV....

  • at 02:28 is it just me or does that "Beatle" look more like Tom Cruise?

  • @KnightAngel120 Good, bad, there they go, down the same drain! It still comes down to Matthew 16:26. :- )

  • Love, love, love this song! Great!
