  • Wow, just fucking wow.

This looks like a "pro" effort. Its hard to believe its just a mod and not a game on its own from a developing house.

Some criticism would that the sword fighting seems somewhat clunky, but I'm pretty sure it will be bound to work in later iteration of the mod and besides, we should all stick to the Blackjack ;)

REally really amazed by this work, truly a marvelous effort.

  • I really hope Thief 4 will have a multiplayer option. Some will agree with me and some wont. But I loved playing Thievery UT, though it was still too much of DM for me. Infact, I think a glorified ThieveryUT style multiplayer to Thief 4 would be awesome. SP players can play the singleplayer all they want, and the MP crowd can enjoy Gaurds vs Thieves and co-op in the "thief" way.

  • Thief 3??

  • I fucking love the creators of this.

  • @1337chsacker Finally, your link to 'everyone is now dumber for having listened' on youtube is very rude and insolent, and i doubt anyone will agree that my comments have been worthless.

Quite apart from that, youve also revealed yourself as still immature and young. I doubt if youve ever played the original games and are thus hardly in a position to comment.

I dont mind games like T3/T4 being made. But not with the Thief name - that should never have gone to Eidos to misuse

  • @1337chsacker As for who wants thief 2.5? Why dont you look at the dark mod and who 'they' is?

The problem is that you probably didnt play the original games before t3. You entered with T3 and yet talk about 'progression' and 'they' as if it was one development team.

Fact is while T1/T2 were made by Looking Glass, only the story of T3 was made by them and the rest by a different and far less brilliant team, which wont even be making T4.

Thats not progression, its jolts in dev teams

  • @1337chsacker T3 was not made by the same developers, and it showed. It was not a bad game - it was quite good actually. But it was already rejecting much of what made the previous games 'thief' and this has continued with the change in direction for T4. By comparison, the dark mod is much closer to what a T3 by the original developers would have looked like.

You know little about computers if you think a split map was necessary for PC's - it was because of consoles that this was done.

  • @1337chsacker Yes, i did. But did you know that on higher difficulty levels, the objectives banned more than a few knockouts and any killing (except spiders etc)?

I dont mind having the option to fight your way through, if you wish. And i wouldnt mind just missing disincentives against killing, or stupid guards, or any of the things i mentioned in isolation.

But when all those things are combined together, including by a dev team that doesnt listen, the result is that i prefer T1/T2

  • @1337chsacker Also, calling it 'deadly shadows' and the dagger/backstabbing missed the point and focussed on the weakest part of the whole formula - combat - rather than non violent sneaking, the most challenging part.

Another problem was that none of the maps were really as big or interesting as the original, especially thief 2, and the city - while nice - was so linear and restricted that it didnt feel like a city at all. It was also a stupid, pointless RPG element that didnt fit in

  • @1337chsacker Uhh, youre the one flipping out over what the majority of people think. I liked the third person view - thats not the problem, and although i missed the rope arrow but didnt mind the climbing, that wasnt it either. And of course the graphics were nicer and yes, visually and in some ways it was more realistic.

The problem was really the 'dumbing down' - load zones, lack of swimmable water, easy sneaking, stupid guards with short paths - all in all I just liked the first two more

  • @1337chsacker Did you play the other two? SOME others agree, but the vast majority DONT. Ill agree with you that Thief 3 had its good sides - one i liked was the 3rd person view (though garrett looked like an assassin). But generally the game was much weaker even on its own merits than the other two
