surely it would have made sense to put the dripping, burning plastic out first ... common sense?

No reason to go in, they could've knock out that fire right from the starting point as if they were standing at the bedroom's door.

Here is what I saw. The plastic shield was burning and melting before they made entry. Actually it is burning before they advanced to the area where the room was. No one was hurt because they did have PPE on. But it shouldn't have happened. They didn't need to enter that room to extinguish the fire. While the PPE did its job, they didn't assess their situation like they should have. Being a Firefighter is as much about know what is going on around you as it is putting wet stuff on red stuff.

what a bunch of fools in front of all those people, not sure how much these guys know about 3d firefighting. also im sure we get those flames/ gases to a safe level like out before we make our way in! and for those silly comments like they had PPE on..... level 2/structural gear does not make you fire proof you can not go into direct flame contact nor near too much radiant heat come on guys!

next time maybe they'll use glass as a smoke baffle. just looking at the plexy melt made me hurt lol .....still nice live demo of the diffrence with and without sprinklers.....
Clearly most of the people commenting have no idea what it's like to be a firefighter. Sometimes when you're fighting a structure fire, shit melts and drips onto you and keeps burning. And in this case it wasn't surprising because in the breathing apparatus mask and helmet it can be hard to see above you (to where the shield was burning and melting).
This happens all the time in the real world. You put out the melted stuff and keep working. That's why we wear the PPE. Not a big deal at all.
