The Abarth engines were little jewels compaired to the Fiat engines they were based on. Some were twin cams with crank journals enlarged and stroked for more HP. They had extensively modified oiling systems and cooling systems with some running the oil cooler/water radiator all the way to the front of the car. Wheels were many times by Campagnolo with engine parts made of the same Electron (magnesium) material. Real Abarth cars and parts are worth collecting as they are no longer being made.
I have a feeling that if your Abarth has an 803cc engine, than you have a powerplant out of a Fiat 850. I don't think Carlo ever used an 803 engine. Having owned a couple of Abarths I think the 0-60mph of 7 seconds is a bit optimistic... but never the less, it's a beautiful car.
Nice car, but the guy shouldn't sugar coat everything, he says "I've only seen one or two"... well DUH, YOU OWN ONE SO OF COURSE YOU'VE SEEN AT LEAST ONE. What a jerk.
At least he got the year right... First of all, the cars were built with a 750cc and can run a 850. Second, the car was not built to race, it was built as a road car that was never meant to be a race car. They eventually were raced in the scca and other sporting events where they became more known. Third, if hes talkin about dirt rally, the cars were made specifically for the road.
