My Bush TV12 vintage TV set from 1949. This is an all-tube (valve) British television set with a 9-inch circular tube (masked to appear square) displaying 405 lines at 25 frames interlaced. It was one of the first ever TVs to dispense with an EHT mains transformer, instead it uses flyback EHT like all the latest CRT tvs today (what's left of them!).

It's showing a modern DVD of Psycho which has been cropped to letterbox widescreen..hence the black bars..its not a TV malfunction. The strobing effect is my cam phone, it's not present when you're here in person.

In use it's connected to a digital scan converter and rf modulator to enable modern TV reception.

Yeah I know Psycho was alot later but i dont have any 1950's stuff to hand.

  • @Bignadim

Yes! Very art deco but for 1949 it was on the verge of being 'last years' fashion!

  • Wonderful!

  • More what I have heard called 5the "Streamlined" or "Moderne" style, it was popular from the late 30s to about the early 50s in some areas of the world.
