A demonstration of how to find, setup, and use MAME cheats. This is mainly about cheat.zip for newer versions of MAME, although it's pretty much the same deal with cheat.dat for the older MAMEs. The only difference with cheat.dat setup is that it must be fully extracted into the MAME root directory.

Pugsy's Cheats - http://cheat.retrogames.com/

MAMEUIFX - http://mame32fx.altervista.org/download.htm

Still don't get it? MameAddicts.com (linked in my channel).

Music -
1. Shinobi (Arcade) stage 1 BGM (ninja!).
2. Raiden (Arcade) stage 1 BGM (obviously :P).

  • @neckshredder1 Oh, letter keys also work as save positions.

  • thanks man it did work with the one you told me i really appreciate it thank you :)

  • @lucas66568 Could be two reasons.

Maybe you chose a game with no save state support. MAME will flash a warning screen to say that it's not supported whenever you try to save state in those games. You can still try it, but it really may not work for some games.

Or, maybe the defaults have been changed. Press tab in-game>Input(general)>User Interface>and scroll down to check the controls for Save/Load State.

  • @neckshredder1 mine it doesn't work.why?

  • @lucas66568 Check the Save State folder in the left field of the MAME GUI for games with full save state support. Other games not in that folder may still be able to do save states, though. The defaults are Shift+F7 to save and F7 to load. You need to pick a number from 0-9 to save or load from.

  • i want to know how to create savestates!can someone teach me that?

  • sweet track, "shinobi" arcade!!!! :-D

  • @MSfeller I once had a problem with M32++0.119 where I'd been messing around a lot with AVI record and it eventually wouldn't even boot anymore. Delete and a fresh setup fixed whatever was causing it.
