This opening sequence of "The Royal Romance of Charles and Diana," which aired on CBS on September 20, 1982, showed the introductory trailer, the opening credits, and the first few scenes of the movie. In this sequence, at an outdoor party he's hosting, Prince Charles autographs a children's book he has written for the 7-year-old Honorable Diana Spencer. Years later, while Lady Diana, now 16, is at boarding school, he spends some time flying, then escorts a European princess at a formal dinner. The next morning, he learns that a newspaper has falsely reported that he is supposed to marry that princess. Catherine Oxenberg and Christopher Baines co-starred in the movie, with Dana Wynter, Stewart Granger, Olivia de Havilland, Ray Milland, John Hadden, George Martin, Barbara Caruso, Holland Taylor, Jeannie Taylor, Estella Masters, Ibbits Warriner, and Cecile Callan in supporting roles. This is the rerun that aired again on CBS in 1986. Since this movie is not available on home video or DVD, I took a video of my videotaped copy with my digital camera, as it played on my TV set, then retaped selected excerpts from the movie with my digital camera.

  • is this the full movie? or just parts of it?

  • @Hochichin Parts of it. I have no way to upload the whole movie onto my computer. Wish I did!

  • I didn't Prince Charles could fly a plane.

  • @67nairb He learned how as a young man.

  • Could you possibly improve the sound quality on this movie? BTW I saw this movie the year it came out in September 1982 on CBS-on a Monday to be precise.

  • @67nairb Short of doing it all over and turning the volume of the TV way up, I don't see my way clear to. I wish I did.

  • @zorrothefox100 if it's a VHS the only way I know of is a converter that they have where you can play the VHS with a DVD and burn it right onto it. I've seen them at Walmart and I know a guy that has pretty much done this to his VHS's so he could have a back up so to speak, plus he shared some movies with me that I hadn't seen in a long time. of course I had to give them back cause my DVD drive in my computer went out (grr's) but it's okay. :)

  • I saw some of this movie a long time ago, and that guy looks less like Charles than I remembered. He wasn't a bad looking guy, but those big, brown eyes make it impossible for me to pretend he is Prince Charles!

  • @fast1919 I thought she was never lovelier than in Sink The Bismarck!.

  • hi there zorrothefox..do u still have this tape? how is wish i could have the soft copy..with the technology nowadays..we can transfer this to a better quality viewing..

  • @Mermaid1962 She and Diana were born the same year, 1961.

  • dana wynter has just died may 5 great actress very pretty r i p

  • @zorrothefox100 Catherine Oxenburg looks so much like Lady Diana. This documovie (if such a word exists), is very good, much better than CHARLES AND DIANA: A ROYAL LOVE STORY which also aired on ABC in September 1982 just three days before this broadcast.

  • @zorrothefox100 He was pretty good at it judging from this movie. I should've known that since I'm a Royal Family watcher I have a book on Prince Charles I got for Christmas 30 years ago. But the book was published in 1978 three years before his marriage to Lady Diana.
