There you go. And there's nothing wrong with having the view that Iran should be invaded. It can easily be argued that Iran is a big threat and given the alternatives, a)invading iran getting rid of its nuclear weapons b)a nuclear iran. It's quite reasonable to prefer option 'a'. You admit to him thinking he didn't say it quite right.that's a bit understated as you also admit he doesn't feel annihilation is necessary. He said it absolutely brilliantly for the satire program.

Actually he has come out saying that even though he doesn't feel annihilation is necessary, he still is for invading Iran because he believes they will attack the western world. He stands by that he just thinks he didn't say it quite right here. This was not a "comedic" thing he said nor was it satirical. Just because the show is for satire doesn't mean he as an individual is trying to be completely satirical.
