The National Evolutionary Synthesis Center, (NESCent), in collaboration with the Understanding Evolution web site project at the University of California, Berkeley, produces brief, monthly stories and podcasts for the public about current happenings in evolutionary biology. As in most animals, octopus' love life is full of interesting behavoirs. In this story, researchers shed light on two particularly interesting behavoirs: mate guarding and sneaking. Both are evolutionary adaptations to increase the number of a male's offspring. (10.5 minutes)
