Dragunov sniper is cheap comes in different versions and low maintenance making it a reliable sniper rifle in every single environment cause it mechanism is the same as an AK-47.

@CMDai1 Your not right..It must be noted that several countries produced SVD copies or look-alikes. Of those, the "true" clones (rifles that have similar internal design) are Iraqui Al Kadesih rifle and Chinese Type 85 (in 7,62x54R) and NDM-86 (in 7,62x51 NATO). Others, such as Romanian Romak FPK or Yugoslavian Zastava M76, are only look-alikes as their internal design is different and usually based on Kalsshnikov AK assault rifle.

the idea of this was to have marksmen in platoons with reasonably easy to wield long range guns, it isn't really a sniper rifle more of a support weapon. most true sniper rifles are operated by an independant sniper maybe a spotter and the rifles are much more powerful. I think it would be a great deer or moose rifle :D

"Gas operated systems are less accurate" Gas operated systems are more reliable. If you don't believe me read about a gun called the AK47. Gas system is cleaner but can operate effectively with dirt cloged in the system. Blowback cannot. Also a Gas system can be chambered for high pressure (Something you may want in a sniper rifle) Blowback cannot with out risk of injury to the shooter. As far as being less accurate... Give me a break.

I see a lot of idiots talking trash about this rifle. "Its a medium range rifle" BULLSHIT. Its good at nearly 1500 yards. "They should have made it a bullpup" They did its called the Dragunov SVU.

@CMDai1 Psl is SAME As AK, but SVd is different, has other and separate gas piston ... Like SA vz.58. Ak is assault rifle, but SVD is DMR. AK: 3MOA. SVD 1+-0.5MOa with munnition (Celevje, ekstra..)
