An orignal by Liz Downing.
Recorded August 24, 2009
Interestingly enough, this song was written on a plane ride from Denver to Milwaukee. The guy next to me must have been wondering why I was writing so furiously in my notebook.
Lyrics:
There was a war last night, silent battle.
You were screaming, but I couldn't hear you.
Darlin', it wasn't that I wasn't listening.
The summer air distorts the sound.
Someone told you what you hate to live to hear.
Blown up, but at the bottom it was true.
And you fell to your knees, beggin' the good lord please...say it's a lie.
I will see her eye for eye.
Just because there's no feelings attached,
Doesn't mean it won't hurt you.
And I will pour the ice and flood it, so I can skate over the glaze.
Will you love me in the morning, still mourning, will you love me?
'Cause I have strung each string and I have made you dance with me.
Will you love me in the morning, still mourning, will you still love me?
I won't tip toe anymore, tip toe, tip toe.
And if you give me the chance, I will love more than I ever, ever have before...oh before.
So you spark the flint and burn the yarn.
And you fall heavy on the stage.
Where you'll act out our tragedy where it's morning and you're still mourning.
Love, string us both up, you be the puppeteer.
Love, let you guide me with my wooden hand in his.
'Cause we are on fire for you.
Love, will you carry us through?
Thanks for listening :)
Oh my, it's soooo good. !
