Robert Cray - Right Next Door (cover, Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster)

A cover of one of my favourite Robert Cray songs. Played on a Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster (signed by Jimmie himself on the backplate, along with Greg Koch) with Haeussel pickups, plugged into a Fender G-Dec III Fifteen, set on clean with some chorus, tape delay and reverb. I used the position no.4 on the strat switch, I know Robert often uses the no.2 for the solo (especially live, cuts right through the mix!).

It's a bit late so I couldn't use my Princeton Reverb Reissue :(
I'm using only the volume knob (usually when I play this song I use a boost for the solos and a compressor for the rhythm part), no compression (thus the rhythm sounds a bit flabby), only light and hard picking (still needs practice though).

what is the first chord that you play? i've always wondered that

@squ51 You can play it in two positions - the first one (which I prefer because of the less bassy ring in the lower position of the neck): -x- -6- -3- -5- -3- -x- Or the second way (closer to the overall playing position of the rest of the song): -x- -x- -10- -8- -10- -8- Hope that helps ;)

@Gideon6640man I used to play with a band which covered Fabulous Thunderbirds songs (JLV used to play with them) and found a great deal on a used one. So I picked it up, swapped the pickups for handmade ones and it rocks. But if I were to buy a Strat again, I'd go for the Robert Cray (hardtail, no trem, I don't use it much) or a Deluxe (with the S-1 switching, rosewood fboard is a must).
