The New Hungarian Parliament

The old parliament building on the Kossuth tér in Budapest must be disassembled, stone by stone. The building stones should be numbered and taken to Zanzibar or Madagascar for preservation. German archeologists could do an excellent work. It must be rebuild in Zanzibar or Madagascar.
There should come a new, multifunctional building on the location of the old parliament.
It should function as a shopping mall, fun-fair and politican nerve center.

We in Zanzibar have our own Old Stone Town (a Unesco Heritage Centre). Thanks, but no thanks for the gift- sell your building to the Russians. They ahve the money and place to rebuild it.

Thanks for mentioning the Old Stone Town. This is exactly why I got the idea of Zanzibar. :-) There are the oldest stone buildings of Africa! My fellow Hungarians seem to be obsessed by stones and 19th century ideas. I used Zanzibar as a form of rethoric. Don't worry, no danger for the beautyful Stone Town of Zanzibar. It is more a discourse of Hungarians about their own identity and future and past.

New ideas always provoke. Yes, my intention is to make a statement, and I am using an iconic building to express my ideas. It was not the intention to provoke. It is about parlamentary democracy, about how it functions in Hungary, and in general. I would like to have a form of democracy where the electors (the people) and the elected (the politicians) are closer to each other. This building would funcion as such, by blurring the "elitair" with the "populair".

The buiding would make room for a more participatory form of decision making. This is what politics about. Decision making. By physically blurring people and politicians together, by blurring the function of an elitarie institute radically into less elitair institutions like entertainment, commerce, and media. The good old things again: Form and Funcion. Rigid Left / Right has less and less meaning for the people. Dynamics and Mobility more and more. I am 4 more complexity. It looks "organic".
