Sorry dude but its not going to be a cost effective way to build anything, cost effective is boards and nails. Each block must cost a fair bit in materials compared to a piece of wood and then you've got the expence of producing it either man-hours or machinery. You have made an interesting little toy for kids, of all ages, though so good work.
It is going be awhile before we can build a nice sized wall and deliver specs. Only two of us at Zipblocks at the moment...limited resources.
We are working to get some seed money from investors. We are hoping to demo the use of Zipblocks as a medium to fabricate 3D Glulam structures for some light rail. Just imagine building anything, any size, any shape out of what "seems to be one continuous piece of solid plywood." Glulam is some amazing stuff...Zipblocks are going to take it 3D.
No dream. I simply felt that that with all the technology we have...that we should be able to leverage it to lower housing construction costs. With that in mind I set out to create a system that could readily be assembled by robotics. The simple cubic lattice was nature's answer. It took me awhile but I finally came up with an interlocking cubic system that mimicked nature.
I'm getting ready to manf the blocks myself. I'll be glad to design something that illustrates their strength.
make a bank vault out of this :D
