  • Rational arguments are not based on fear and authority.

  • @SamWiseGingy

Is it not rational for me to not put my hand in a hot stove for fear of losing my hand? If there is not an ultimate authority for morality, then all you have to base your actions on is one's personal preference.

  • @DPMosteller

What happens when you put your hand on a stove is rationally affirmed. What happens when you don't believe in God is matter of "faith."

This sermon is a prime example of how believers demonize unbelievers. Your faith not only exalts you but it demeans others who do not share it.

  • @SamWiseGingy

You reason like a child. Have you ever heard the term positive and negative reinforcement? I asked you a simple question and you seem unable to answer it, so I will. Rationality can be based on either a positive or negative experience. The answer is yes. It is rational not to touch a hot stove out of fear.

Wrong again. My faith exalts Jesus Christ by admitting my sin and acknowledging it comes from a darkened evil heart that loves sin and asking for His mercy and forgiveness.

  • @DPMosteller

You can't defend your ideas so you attack me.

If it weren't for the fear of hell you would have no religion. There would be no gospel.

The Christian faith is nothing more than the exploitation of the natural human fear of death. Without a fear of death you would have no converts and nothing in the offering plate.

  • @SamWiseGingy

Wrong for the 3rd, or is it the 4th time? I defend Jesus Christ in the most hostile environments on a professional level. I have never lost a debate.

Wrong! The Christian faith is a relationship with Jesus Christ not a religion, and the basis is a sincere love for Christ out of gratitude, not fear. I love Him because He first loved me and gave His life for me when I was just like you.

Wrong! The love of God is the compelling force behind the Christian faith and giving not fear.

  • @SamWiseGingy Rational rebuttals are not based on emotions.

  • @polishdread Righteousness, Temperance and Judgement to Come - preached in the Oxford Union in (I think) 1969. The finest sermon I've ever heard from The Doctor - Acts 24 - brilliant stuff.

  • Which sermon is this from?

  • Christians should not be divided into divisions or denominations. The bible says that we should all speak the same thing.
