The Cousteau team, on expedition in the Marquesas Islands, intended to film the abundant fish around Thomasset Rock but instead they find themselves capturing footage of a huge army of porpoises (family Phocoenidae) that have chased the fish away. The cacophony of clicks and squeaks, the pressure waves from tens of thousands of tails all signal danger to fish for dozens of miles around.

  • @Flashlight1996 If you're talking about porpoises and dolphins, then no they are not the same thing. They're very different.

If you are, however, talking about the creatures you see in this video, then yes, most people and most scientists do believe they are the same. Some few do think they are in a different family and therefore not dolphins, but very very closely related to them.

In this video you can see either the melon-headed whales or pygmy killer whales, two species hard to tell apart :/

  • thumbs up if you typed in porpoise and clicked the first thing

  • small ass dolphins!!!

  • I grew up watching these shows.

  • Are they the same as dolphins?
