The Arts Council of Oklahoma City is introducing a new storytelling festival Sept. 11-12, 2009!
The popular WinterTales festival has been renamed the Oklahoma City Storytelling Festival and moved permanently to the fall. This year, the new festival will be held Sept. 11 to 12 and will include multiple tellers and performers, and workshops.
In September, the new festival will start on a great note with world-famous tellers Kevin Kling, Susan Klein, Motoko, and a musical storytelling element with Minton Sparks.
The idea was to shift the storytelling festival to a time of year that does not conflict with Arts Council events such as Opening Night, Festival of the Arts and the Twilight Concert series. We have also placed the new festival so not to conflict with the State Fair, said Peter Dolese, executive director.
By having the storytelling festival in the fall, well be able to give it more attention and make better use of our staffs and volunteers time, said Dolese.
The Arts Council of Oklahoma City is a volunteer-driven organization that relies on the time and support of more than 5,000 volunteers throughout the year.
Oklahoma City Storytelling Festival tickets will go on sale in August.
