RIVERDANCE WORLD RECORD

On Saturday, July 22, 2006 114 dancers from schools in Southern England formed the longest Riverdance line ever!

They were joined by the two leads from the troupe Eileen Martin and Colin Ryan who are currently on tour with the show and the whole attempt was shown live on BBC1 Television as part of their dancing extravaganza Dancing in the Street hosted by veteran song and dance man & all round entertainer Bruce Forsyth and the delightful Zoe Ball who as a contestant on BBC TV's Strictly Come Dancing is no stranger to dance herself!

After the performance the feat was verified by the adjudicator from Guinness World Records.

RIVERDANCE WORLD RECORD BROKEN!

On Thursday, November 8, 2007 the Guinness record for the longest River Dance was broken by 216 dancers from Leinster, Ireland. The tremendous task was organised by Elaine Kavanagh A.D.C.R.G, Kevin McCormack A.D.C.R.G. and Ronan McCormack A.D.C.R.G.

Dancers and supporters gathered in St Stephens Green Park in the heart of Dublin on a wet and windy morning full of enthusiasm and hope that the record could be theirs.

The extended troupe lined up and danced the St Patrick's day five times over for five minutes whilst the Guinness World records team scrutinised for the continuous five minutes with no stoppages or withdrawals.

Elaine Kavanagh accepted the official Guinness World Records Certificate which is proudly hanging in the offices of An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha, Harcourt Street Dublin.

  • @AsksOneThing My friend was one of them, and I was 2 people away! There were only 3 of us from my dancing school and we got put in the middle :) Facing them, the tall girl in blue on the right is my friend Katie and the girl in pale pink on the left, next to a boy in all black, is me - was a wicked day :)

  • @mtjlarkin It is Riverdance ! The dance was out of riverdance and so was the music.Riverdance is traditional Irish stepdancing, notable for its rapid leg movements while body and arms are kept largely stationary.
