@rimesification It's probably because you are thinking in the first minor chord as being Im, when it's in fact a IIm. I play over Cm7 Dm7 and Eb (the original song is whole step down). the key here would be Bb. If you thik that way, it can't go wrong. Even the Bb pentatonic scale will solve your problem. Good luck!
