@Shakespeare1612 Mr. Magic was based in India and was selling Pepsi Refresh votes out of Baton Rouge, LA. This was against Pepsi's policies, but they seemed unable to stop it. For participants like me, it seemed that it was impossible to win a Pepsi Challenge grant without Mr. Magic's help. Many oddball charities were getting grants for dubious causes.
