  • very nicely played, the speed is just right. what is the make of the melodeon and how much was it? it has a nice rich full sound.

  • It's a Castagnari Mory - price depends on where you get it from! It's certainly a nice sounding box, though quite heavy.

  • is it in D/G?

  • Yes it is.

  • arghh, i want one.

i'm thinking of buying a saltarelle le bouebe, any thoughts/judgement?

that is of course once i've raised £1000, ah well, i'll have to busk for it, easier in Bath than most places at least.

  • You should try out as many as possible because the sound and feel vary so much. If you can get to one of the festivals with the main sellers (Hobgoblin and the Music Room) this summer then it's worth doing so, even if you don't end up buying there/then. As for buying, you may be able to buy direct from the makers (cheaper, even if you have to fly to Italy to pick it up!). And look for 2nd hand boxes - bouebes will be common, I would expect.

  • I send applause. Lovely playing. Glad you like the tune.

All the best to Hazel and yourself.

  • The tune is called "The Bay Tree". It's written by Andy Cutting. You can probably find the notation somewhere on the internet. There's a book that contains transcriptions of tunes by some very good players:

Diatonic Liaisons / Liaisons Diatonique - Alexandra Browne
