I've been a volunteer firefighter for 39 years and I proudly serve as the Lakeview Fire District Commissioner. The difference between life and death is literally seconds when responding to an emergency. Chris Collins not only understands and appreciates the job volunteer firefighters provide communities across Erie County, but he fights for first responders and supported initiatives that can help me save lives.
Here's how.
When bureaucrats bungled the creation of a badly needed brand new, statewide radio system for first responders, Chris Collins stepped in and got the job done. Instead of giving up when politicians couldn't decide on how to move forward with a new radio communications system, Chris Collins brought everyone together, and worked to create a first class system to help firefighters have the critical communication we need to help save lives.
Our Erie County Executive shares our vision and mission: that advancements in technology and training need to continue in order for first responders to do the best job possible for the people we serve.
Chris Collins fought Albany to make sure Erie County residents got our fair share of revenue to establish the next generation of a new 911 emergency system. Not only is our 911 system finally receiving the critical upgrades that we need, Chris Collins also fought to make sure we receive the proper amount of funding needed from Albany.
Under the leadership of Chris Collins, we also have three, state of the art; live burn training centers and an important "firefighter training boot camp."
What did Mark Poloncarz do? He proposed closing many of our volunteer fire departments.
Chris Collins supports volunteer firefighters and first responders. He is giving us the critically important technological and training tools to help save lives.
