Akki's Fire Factor

Akshay Kumar is the latest to succumb to what we call the ‘image make-over syndrome’. The 40-something actor was recently signed on by a popular denim company as its brand ambassador. Levi’s, we’re sure isn’t regretting its decision, as Akki ensured a grand, sizzling start to their promotional campaign. For a long time now, the masses have been quick to associate Akshay Kumar with either action or comedy. But, one look at the star swaggering down the ramp with sultry PYTs by his side and the John Abrahams and Dino Moreas will quickly be forgotten. Although, some may argue that Akshay’s firebrand act bordered on vulgarity, the actor earnestly disagrees. “Our films are much raunchier sometimes. I was not doing anything vulgar. It’s all about attitude”, he said.
Dear ol’ (no pun intended) Akki was also seen suggestively unbuttoning his jeans, with some assistance from a hot female model. Will that be considered too cheeky by his wife? “She knows about the advertisement. She’s watched it and seems fine with it”, he said with a ‘twinkle’ in his eye. “I go according to what’s required. I don’t walk around shirtless for no reason”, he further justified himself. Considering his colleague Salman Khan’s particular fondness for the shirtless look, could Akshay have been taking a swipe at him with that statement? “Salman and I are not competing with each other. I’m just doing my work”, he quickly added.
