@safehaven11 I'm shocked she medaled; she popped 2 jumps, put her hand down, and ended the program very strangely

Kerrigan was an idol of mine "back in the day" (can't believe this was nearly 20 years ago, that's NOT RIGHT). But the thing is, if you've seen one of her routines, you've pretty much seen them all. Her style was very crisp and fresh, then it became commonplace. She didn't push herself to grow as an artist.

I remember being so annoyed with her at the 1993 worlds here she basically gave up. I lost all respect for her. Though, I did feel bad for the attack I honestly didn't care if she made the 94 team.

When she hit them she had one of the nicest triple flip jumps.

Nancy was blessed with her figure and the impression she gave on the ice, but outside of Lillehamer, her skating is pretty bad. She was like a prettier version of Jill Trenary - reputed for artistry and not backed with competent, reliable jumps. Ito and Yamaguchi are much more exciting and complete skaters to watch and Nancy was placed correctly in the standings here, which cannot be said about her outrageously high placement at Worlds a month later.

@sleepyjl77 Bonaly was a MESS!

Nancy Kerrigan would make a great figure skating coach and actress for the movie Blades of Glory 2 - Going for the Gold with Taylor Firth, Sasha Cohen and Sarah Huges.

SOLE2SOUL, that is exactly why this performance was for THAT time, no need to compare then and now. If THAT Kerrigan was skating in today's time, then she'd obviously be in the mindset of today's skating. But even though there were mistakes here, she had a great program and presentation. She only medalled because of Ito and Harding blowing it in the short program. Those two were better than her. Not every podium finish is close. This one had a big gap separating Yamaguchi/Ito with Kerrigan.

That was so much worse than I remembered. She was extremely lucky to get a medal after this floundering performance - 2 intended triples singled, nearly falling on a 3rd triple and can't hold her final pose. She wouldn't even be in the top 15 today!
Well, Nancy is a very beautiful lady to watch skating, but I think that she opened a BIG door for Midori. I think that hand down on the triple toe was a sense of her getting tired. At least she got a medal.
Nancy has nothing to be ashamed of. It was a great program.

This was a great program. Besides the original choreography, interpretation and music cuts (which worked well), this program had nice directions and placements on the ice with nice ice coverage. And it wasn't just going from jump to the next jump, but there was artistic and step content in-between. It was a complete program. She always had programs that were modern-contemporary/art yet having classic and traditional fundamentals and style around it. This is what Kerrigan stood out for.
