ABC: 'Mostly Peaceful' Immigration Protests vs. 'Very Ugly' Tea Party Rallies

On Saturday's Good Morning America, reporter Mike Von Fremd downplayed the violence of protesters against Arizona's new immigration law. He spun, "Riot police were called in to try and control demonstrators protesting outside the capital. Most were peaceful. A handful threw bottles at police and were arrested." Yet, ABC derided March's Tea Party rallies as "very ugly," despite the fact that there were no arrests.

As a (legal) Mexican immigrant, I find it offensive that popular conception views the average Mexican as the archetypal anti-American. In this telling, Mexicans are lazy, ignorant, filthy, irresponsible, violent, and so on. And everyone, it seems, has an anecdote about Mexicans that seems to confirm these prejudices, usually involving a menial laborer, a fast food restaurant, or a trip to Tijuana. Mexican immigrants in the U.S. will never assimilate until these stereotypes are laid to rest.

The crowd in AZ that was rushing police wasn't a handful! There were hundreds! There is video from a copter showing the actual number of "mostly peaceful" protesters! Even DronetekPolitics isn't showing the whole story. Still amazed that people can label the tea party as violent, hateful or racist. Really? WHERE??!
