The people they talk about in this video aren't even the true christians. If they claim to be christian and do that, they are either very immature or don't know how to handle being a christian. Also, they act like EVERYONE Christian they meet does these things which I doubt is the case.
And you seriously think slavery was THE reason for the war? I'm not getting into this any further. The truth is Christians were just as culpable as anybody for slavery in America BUT they were also responsible for a lot of the abolition movement. No amount of rewriting history will change the truth of that. Good day.
no not every southern christian thought it was ok to own slaves. and not all southern people were christians. however the majority were both. and i wasn't brainwashed with this idea. think about it, if it were any other way could the war have happened at all? if the majority of people in the south didn't think that owning slaves was worth fighting for would they have fought? if the majority of southern people did not beleive in god would it be such a major theme in the area?
Oh, I didn't realize the entire population of the south were not only Christians but that every one of them believed slavery was a good thing. Like I said before, look into it instead of just automatically believing what you've been brainwashed with. That's what people like you like to tell Christians, isn't it? Too bad you can't practice what you "preach". Also, I do believe hitler thought he was "christian".
i wouldn't call the population of the southern republic a marginal amount of christians. maybe you don't think the south is composed of a large amount of christians. maybe you don't think that it was the north that was considered godless in this little debate. people like you show how much you can be in denial about history over religious convictions. there are also people who don't believe the holocause occured, and others who won't admit that hitler was catholic.
No, it shows just how imperfect people are. You know, like when people like you take something that a marginal amount of Christians were for and use it to generalize all Christians.
and this would be the first time that christians were at war with christians of another denomination on what is considered morally correct? there were christians on both sides of that arguement using the bible to back both sides. this shows you how just how divine that magical book is doesn't it?
Er maybe you should do some more research before spouting your leftist crap. I suggest you start with "For the Glory of God" by Rodney Stark. Or, you know, any of the other 10 million sources that report the truth of how Christians helped end slavery in America IN SPITE of what others wanted.
