Jane Byrne is a historic figure - to this day she is the only female ever elected as Mayor in any of the 3 major US cities (LA, NY Chicago). She had some big accomplishments too - she created the neighborhood festivals that Chicago is now famous for and managed the city through the very tough economic times of the late 1970s/early 1980s.
