Human bengs are a particular type of mammal. In this compelling clip, we see a tribesman runner persue his prey through the most harsh conditions in a gruelling eight hour chase. • if only people could appreciate nature in the way this hunter does

  • Beautiful.

I wish society was not based on money and corruption. Im not saying I wish society would revert bak to hunter/gatherer days, but Modern life sucks, to many tragedies.

  • @drzachm I know that :P our species has incredible indurance due to the lack of hair/fu, means more space for sweat glads and also that we walk on two legs. Here in europe stalking or driven game would be the only way of hunting for a stone age man or neaderthal. I'm just saying surely that could apply to africa too especially because it's hotter and water is much more precious. It would make more sense is all I'm saying.

  • This is such an excrutiatingly beautiful glimpse at our species. I cannot imagine what life is really like for these tribesmen. Having had only a life in the city, this glimpse, of the natural struggle to survive within these elements that David Attenborough is sharing of, is simply incredible! Thanks for sharing this clip.

  • @drzachm We have the advantage in hot climates. The animal overheats and doesn't sweat nearly as much. In colder weather, the animal takes away our advantage and the only means to hunt is to use the element of surprise. Humans still accelerate faster than the prey if it carries more body weight.

  • @MacDonaldSeumas You miss the point. This is the earliest form of hunting, before humans had guns, or bows, or even spears. Humans can out-run nearly every animal on Earth in an endurance race.

  • @Batteri000 They probably used arrow- and spearheads made from flint.

  • Interesting way of hunting! But surly a short stalk and a spear with thrower or bow or even a rifle would be, not nessersarly more effective but less time consuming and using up less water/energy but then it's tradition I suppose. Still a very interesting way of hunting.

  • @Batteri000 used sharpe stones or waited untill it died of exustion

  • @Batteri000 They chased it until the animal collapsed and died of exhaustion.

  • How did they kill the pray before they had steel spears? Smash them with rocks?

And its a little funny to see these hunters running after them in moderen shoes and shorts :P

  • @GnomeGuardian

Not so sure about that. Wars and conflicts where a constant threat. Diseases that we now don't even thing about could kill you. You might run out of food. Persecution from (or becuase of) religion etc. Of course depends on what year you would prefer to live in.

It is easy to think that everything was better before, but I think all over we are lucky to live in a time like these. (depending on where in the world you live though).
