  • So should I kept my 1.8d and not look to get the 1.4d? Is it really that much of a difference from a 1.8 to 1.4?

  • @lepermessiah01 - Depends what you're using it for. To some people, the difference between f1.4 and f1.8 is worth a lot of money. To others, it's not worth much. Personally, I think a lot of people get caught up in owning what they perceive to be better gear because it costs more.

  • sadly the canon 50 f1.8 is the worst lens ever

  • @unprofessionalvids - Why do you say that?

  • i'm kinda missing the heavenly white background videos. haha.

  • @starboymachine - LOL... it'll be back. :-)

  • what about the f/1.8G? how does it compare to the f/1.8D and the rest?

  • @Freepepsi42 mmmmH I have the f1.8D and it's a superb cheap "platic-e" WELL BUILT, great quality lens... I have not missed a single shot with it. I use it on Canon 5D, AG-HMC150-Letus rig, T2i, D300, etc.. One kick ass cheap lens..

Pedant, Cocky comments from 16 year old like yourself, are useless..

Buy the $k,000 ones if you can OR stay assisting photographers and let the lens choosing to the pros..

  • @ArtoftheImage it's like a toy, Extremely plastic-e, it's only $100 (new), not good build quality at all.

  • You know nothing, f/1.4 is awesome for portaits, yes, at f/1.4 there is very low resolution, but that doesn't matter, because at f/1.4 you aren't going to be sharp on ANY lens, but it has a nice "soft-focus", very calm rendition. It's the aesthetics, stupid.

  • what about comparing bokeh of new 50mm 1.8G vs 1.4G ? on DX

  • the 1.4G is sharper overall, its not sharper in the center but it is sharper around the border

  • when I look the comparison of the lens with other cameras in DxO, the results of sharpness are other way around making e.g. at d7000, d90 (aspc camera), its 1.4D >1.4G>1.8G. But, CA is higher in 1.4 D than 1.8G
