Affirmative Action Bake Sale

A case of reverse discrimination by Governor Jerry Brown and the California academic system has me agreeing with Republicans on this issue (which is no small feat!)

Clearly, considering race and ethnicity on college admissions IS RACIST. I am part Native American, and I shudder to think that if I had put down "Native American" as my ethnicity on my applications, I would have gotten into college more easily.

Admissions should be based solely on an academic and extra curricular basis, along with the moral integrity of the individuals applying. It should have absolutely nothing to do with race, ethnicity, or gender, and disguising SB-185 as a bill designed to increase diversity, is merely a shadowy term hiding its real goal of reverse discrimination.

The main argument for AA is that, so they say, letting in a greater number of "minority groups" increases diversity and gives them a better chance. They say that having diversity in a school is, objectively, a factor in the college experience that must be promoted. Most of us on the libertarianish side disagree.

Of course it wouldn't be fair. Even a lower-income Asian Indian like me would STILL have to pay higher tuition and qualify for fewer scholarships than a higher-income Black or Hispanic? Ridiculous! Therefore, I only believe in social class affirmative action and certainly NOT race affirmative action.
