you will hurt your knees in the long run if you keep on stopping after jumping/falling because your knees absorb your weight. jumping/falling should be followed by a roll to continue the momentum afaik

Can you do this instead of the safty roll

@ivan40072 once perfected it can be very effective - it doesn't have the potential to be as effective as the safety roll can be. I max out at around 15-17 ft drops with it - any higher and I'm forced to use a side roll. Also - not as effective if you are moving forward at a great velocity. Practice and use where applicable, you'll find out with a little experimentation.

And this one is wrong too! The real purpose of this is to change the speed direction, so you don't damage your spine and knees. You must boost yourself in forward with your hands, not try to compensate your speed with hands.

You gotta deal with the downward momentum if you're a beginner, sure you can go off and apply different principles to the roll, but you gotta start somewhere.
