After @ 35 + years of hearing this I still have trouble believing anyone could sing this fast and accurately with a voice of a spinto soprano BUT again it is JOAN.

It was recordings like these that, in the 60s, sent a whole generation of coloraturas back into the practice rooms to clean up their act. Nobody up to this point had had such a technique. I grew up in that generation and she was a constant inspiration to me and many other colleagues. So sad to hear about her passing. All you can do is be grateful to her for all she gave us. She will be missed. There will never be anyone like her.

Actually, this recording is pitched up a half step or so. At Bonynge's tempo, the piece usually lasts just under 8 minutes, rather than 7 and a half. (And JS sounds a bit *too* flute-ish here!)
