Father's Day compilation 2010. Shot during the spring within 25 miles of our home field Pleasant Valley P48 in Peoria, farms near Buckeye and the Hassayampa river near Wickenburg, Arizona. The other aircraft are flown by Kurt, Matt, and Cuze. Camera flying by Ed. Inspiration from my son Armin. See my other videos for tech specs on aircraft and camera. Soundtrack: "If I Could Fly On The Surface" by Oceanlab vs Mike Shiver (Daniel Kandi mashup).

  • Awesome video! I would to learn to fly a trike! I already have my private, how hard is it to learn to land a trike?

  • @alexancia5279 The controls are totally different from 3-axis so there's that to get used to. But otherwise weight-shift control is much more intuitive and easier to pick up. The most important thing is the seeing-the-horizon and timing-the-flare mentality. If you can land a fixed wing you could land a trike with a little practice. I flew Cessnas and skydived before triking and it's easier and more fun than either in my opinion. You could get a weight-shift endorsement with probably 10 hrs.

  • Wow! Ed, that's your best yet. Love the footage of the trike coming towards you, presumably taken from the back seat of one flying ahead of it. Very cool! I think you have the best shots of other trikes I've ever seen. Are you still using the P-bracket you made?

    Cheers, Paul.

  • Thanks! I'm using a new mount made of 1 1/2 aluminum angle stock that I can rotate around a vertical axis to point at the trike, forward, backward, sideways. The down angle is fixed at about 25 from the horizon, which seems to work well. All the shots in this video were from that mount but at different angles, except the opening and closing clip done from the ground. It's taking a lot of practice to aim the camera by aiming the aircraft. One day.......remote view screen!
