Mutter Josefa sent the first Holy Spirit Missionary Sisters to New Guinea on 21. January 1899. When the Sisters first arrived in the German colony, as it was at the time, they were confronted with locals who still lived in the Stone Age. The Sisters established schools and hospitals, and started to prepare the people for their inevitable encounter with the modern world. Now, a hundred years later, the Sisters are confronted with different challenges: Aids, lack of education and corruption.
How inspirational. These Sisters are truly doing God's work.
