BNSF 8872 heads south twards colorado springs up the palmer divide. This 15 mile stretch of 1-2% grade is displayed in this video.

  • why do they usually have one or maybe two engines at the end of some coal trains

  • They do this To creat less stress on the connection between the first coal car and the Locomotives. That way they don't snapa coupler. These are Called DPU's.
