First run of my 1000T after restoration (well, at least the head is restored). I'm running it on a three phase A2 blower in the vid sine my single phase blower assembly is apart for stripping and repainting. It was just sitting on the flange and wasn't bolted down (the tractor was holding it) so a lot of air was escaping from between the flange and the base of the siren. But is was still loud as hell and shook everything in the shop and also shook loose some unblolted parts on the siren.

In this vid the chopper is running on 115 volts, which is the same as chopper level one.

  • How did you manage to run this with no noise complaints or worse a visit from the police because is it illegle to sound a siren in a city that has active Sirens in place

  • I don't live in a city

The three active sirens in my county were installed by me

    Good enough reasons

  • 0:53 it's like "ALERT TONE"

Cue side panel of federal signal thunderbolt 1000t becoming debris!

Cue man running in circles screaming "WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!" as instructed by Whelen (aka "WAILIN'") WPS4003 or something so stupid, that it rotates (notice the quotation marks) "360°" getting hit by side panel!

Cue Federal signal modulator saying "M•••••••••••• WHELEN LOVER!!!"!

  • LOL!!! 0:53 IS SO HILARIOUS!

  • I have always thought of using a variac for control of the chopper speed. (When it is perminantly installed) It seems much for sensible and variable than using that 7 tap transformer. I don't know what you guys think, but it seems better to me.

  • Is that an ACA Banshee to the right?

  • This Thunderbolt sounds EXACTLY like the Thunderbolt across from my old apartment in Oklahoma. Had the same low tone and growling type windup. Every time there was a test I used to stand outside and watch and listen, loved it.

  • I noticed the rotator cover felled off

  • @Blue10AEMia It sure looks like you live in a city, with that tractor there and all.... :)

  • I will give you FIVE THOUSAND cents for the STL-10

  • GOD, that must have been intense. That thing was about ready to rape the camera mic.

  • love the STL just chillin there
