Jerome gave me a lesson at the OMTI studio in Newark NJ. I was learning the aria "Infelice! E Tuo Credevi" from Verdi's Ernani.

We both share the same birthday, we're Scorpios!

  • I used to visit Jerome once a year to take a few lessons. He passed away in 2003. Got a grueling day job that abuses my soul laving me too tired when I'm home too practice. Hope to find another job soon and try to get back to singing.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • @latude I hope you'll be able to do so soon. You have such a fine voice. Best always, Steve

    Thanks for you kind thoughts.

I have been adding more videos of me singing on Facebook.

You can find as Loo Ow.

I have been finding my way back to singing. I'm composing music for an original musical so I have to sing on the demos. Happy that besides the stress of trying to create something original I get to work out the rust in the pipes!

I am a big fan of the E vowel because it's the vowel that will extend your range. My vocal chords develop into steel rods with that narrow, ugly but truly super vowel. In the beginning you will be killing your vocal chords because it takes a lot of really hard work but you will get results.

Studied with Rod Macwherter, a dramatic tenor just before Jerry. Rod was great for building the core and opening up my voice. I had a big sound but my range was limited until the magic E came along!

  • Where you scared to tell him that you were afraid of the high 'F' and wanted to sing the other (lower) cadenza? I had the same situation with my teacher. Watching this brought back some memories.

  • @Doromir

Couldn't find a F to save my life back then. Finally found one thanks to Jerome. Molto grazie Maestro!

  • Back in the day when opera admitted HUMANS in its business -- people with both great voices and great personalities. unlike what opera does today -- admits people with preferably average, non-admirable voices, with a semi-pleasant physique and with no soul at all -- just good agents.

  • I guess you didn't continue on with the opera singing? You sounded great here.

Back in the early 90's. So very lucky to have had free lessons with Jerome. I was a broke musician back then and Jerome had a big heart to go along with that magnificent voice.

  • Couldn't find a F to save my life back then. Finally found it year later thanks to Jerome. Molto grazie Maestro.
