We are now going to talk about the Yamaha EZ-TP Digital Trumpet. In a previous video, Ted Furman proved he can really play the fluglehorn; so we will listen to him as he talks about modifying and playing an instrument that many cynics would argue is meant for kids.

In all seriousness, Furman likes this instrument because it is essentially a MIDI controller that "more effectively converts the pitch to MIDI." He added a potentiometer from a Boss pedal to the side of the EZ, so he now has an onboard distortion unit that he can use like another valve. His music, which he plays and records under the name Spacebrewer, is all about distortion, so all this makes sense.

Hear more details and more music in the Gearwire video.
