The 2008 series was woodenly acted compared to the 1970's series.
I watched all 38 episodes of the 70's show on youtube again last year and it's an absolute classic, There was a great twist in the last few episodes when some characters began realising they ENJOYED the new simpler lifestyle and didn't miss the old rat race at all..:)

Without giving away too many details, the tv show was cancelled at the end of the third season(series). By then power was restored for much of the UK by using intact hydroelectric plants in Scotland. Some of the original characters stayed until the end, others were killed off.

@airdriver, can you tell me how the old version of "Survivors" has ended? What happened then after Tom flew with them? Or maybe the story was a little bit diffrent? I'm just curious. :)

I was a fan of original version in the 1970's when I was a kid and liked this updated version of Survivors but I can understand why it was cancelled. The actors were well chosen, their characters well written and the show's production was great. Where it failed was plot direction. There was no need to have secret labs or havens for the select few or any of that. This show should have been about picking up the pieces and rebuilding civilization and all the issues in doing that.

I watched this one and now I have gone back to watch the 970s version. I find that if you have less dramatics, it is more believable. Nothing against the actors/actresses...maybe the writers though.
