The excitement of the first solo flight forces this student to forget basic "straight and level" procedures - creating a heart-stopping nightmare for his instructor. For more aviation articles and photos, visit: http://www.GreatWriteUp.com

Yes, we all know that this is NOT: a radio controlled model nor a student pilot. The title is intended as light-hearted humor. If you do not get it, then this kind of humor is not for you. Move on to the next video. We've received a lot of insightful, funny, heart-felt and thoughtful comments. Let's keep it that way.

  • obviously the pilot did not forget everything the plane stayed in the air.

  • @wcresponder Actually, the pilot did forget everything. He was supposed to be getting groceries, returning some library books and having the oil changed on his car. This video proves that he completely forgot all of these things.

  • I see many things that suggust this was not a first solo flight, I think it not wise to push an ultra light airframe in such a manner , one thing interesting is how many new pilots know how to do a tail slide on approuch to lose alt for a proper landing humm. just sayin

  • @mightymouse1204 It is not a "tail slide." The maneuver is called a slip. Glider and ultralight pilots do this a lot to lose excess altitude on final approach. You are right however, about stressing the airframe. Many ultralights were promoted as aerobatic in the early 1980's, which led to quite a few fatalities, not the least of which was structural failure. Take, for example the Rally 2B with the inverted control stick. The pilot moved the stick left to bank to the right.

  • geez, didnt think these things were rated for that kind of stress to be performing maneuvers like that.

  • @Cncrd86 These comments about it being an RC plane prove that perception is reality. It is an ultralight flown at the Pitt Meadows airfield, in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada, around 1989. I knew and flew with the pilot. It is funny how adament people are with their opinions about this flight. Folks, it'd just a video - light images that conjure ideas in your mind. Unlike corporate ads on TV (BP post oil spill?), nobody is trying to make you believe anything.

  • One thing I can tell, you don't need mush of airspace in this airplane to have lots of fun

  • looks like my first time owning a rc plane

  • Obviously he for the first rule of flying...To get far away from his or her respective mate.

  • Actually you really started to scare me, I really thought I was watching a student pilot that went retarded on his first solo and thought I maybe watching a fatality. Scared the crap out of me. I can see the joke. But I have to say the joke was on me, therefore not funny.

  • this is an rc plane!

  • PURE EPICNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • That show is a good recomendation for whatever brand of LSA that is. I didn't know any of them were stressed for those kinds of manuevers. That pilot has been practicing, and he has a lot more sporting blood than I do.

  • i hope he is a stunt pilot
