We shot this with the Nikon D90 and the canon T2i.... Just for side by side comparison...

I have used both cameras now for a while and the Canon wins hands down... The D90 is better in low light and that is it..

I'm currently in the middle of buying a camera right now and i'm stuck between a Canon T3i and a Nikon D5100. Any recommendations or tips?

Both are great cameras. I think the video is better on the Canon. So if video is important get the canon. If you are just taking pictures either one is fine.

Guys i am considering the Canon actually, i almost bought it. But according to the comments, Nikon image quality is better although it has a lower mp count. I want to take mainly photos and also something that has manual mode.

Don't worry about the equipment. Any brand camera today in this category is better then anything a few years back. Just start taking pictures and develop an eye for good photos. It is the person behind the equipment that takes good pictures. Not the other way around. Just get a good lens and try your best.

@TEAMWHITTINGTON in my opinion , the space in between what appears semi pro and expert is smaller today. d7000 is all we all want. check out... freedslr . cong change cong with com and get a chance to bring home a new Nikon D7000

He's right, Canon is known to be good all around but Nikon is known to have the better glass and images which is true in the high ISO range. Its better if you go to a store to get a feel for them and see which ones you like better, canon felt better and the button layout i kinda liked plus it was easy to understand for me so i went with it.

With the T2i you can add Firmware such as Magic Lantern or Cinistyle and make better video's than the $2000 Camera, but just the plane HD with the kit Lens makes better video than this???
