Hi, I had the same problem last weekend, 10/April/11 and the WRX waranty in Brazil is 2 years and ended on March/11. 23.900 Km, revised in a Subaru dealer with 21.000Km 2 months ago. How much is to fix it ?

Im not trying to jinx myself or anything but i have an 09 WRX and i havent had any difficulties with it and i have over 30000 miles on it aleady...Hopefully he stays perfect

i live in saudia arabia and i have a 2008 wrx its doing now 12000km and its fine no strange sounds oures subarus imported from japan but now im scared from this and our dealer is fucked up but i didnt hear any 1 here complaining from anything i hope they fixe ur wrx

Mine was fixed under warranty as it happened with 12,000kms after less than a year of ownership. Not sure how much it would be from your part of the world, but I'd imagine in Canada the bill would have been close to $3000 or $4000. I think there was close to 16 hours of labour involved too.
I'd STRONGLY suggest fighting this with Subaru. This was a manufacturing issue and they should fix it for you even if you are a bit past warranty,

Yeah, it was the rod knock issue. Dealership replaced the engine. I've been running on the new motor for 12,000kms now with no issues (keeping my fingers crossed)....

As far as I know it affected american models as well. I've seen other youtube videos with the same issue from the U.S.... My WRX has been running OK since the new motor. I've put 10k (6,000 miles) on it since the engine replacement and haven't had any issues...

I'm in toronto, so I have the canadian version of the WRX = "WRX265". Although I'm pretty sure that with the exception of the speedo being in kilometers it's identical to the american version...
