IPTV is not mainstream, but it's heading there in rural areas. Children would rather use a cell phone rather than a landline. 14% of US residents use a cell phone as their main line. This means an RLECs core business, TDM, is disappearing. On the other hand, there is a growing need for more bandwidth in rural areas. During this section of the presentation, Karen definitely had everyone's attention. She shares a case study of a company with 4000 subscribers and deployed IPTV last year. The users love the TV caller ID, want email and voicemail alerts on TV and PC. I'm kind of wondering if my parents are using in Esto, Florida? It sounds like it. I'll be talking to them about it. 81% of the customers tell someone else about their ITPV and converged services.
