House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) delivered the following speech on Washington Democrats' failed economic policies and Republicans' commitment to listening to the American people through America Speaking Out and offering better solutions on jobs, spending, health care and other important issues:

"Mr. Speaker, the American people are asking 'where are the jobs?' And just this morning we found out that housing starts fell in the month of June to their lowest level in eight months. Consumer confidence has fallen to its lowest level in the last 11 months. We need to get Americans back to work and we need to get American businesses back open again. But we're not going to get there if the President continues to take money and freedom away from American employers -- whether it's through the 'stimulus' bill, ObamaCare, the national energy tax, or this financial regulatory bill. With three million jobs lost and unemployment at 9.5 percent, and with trillion-dollar deficits, it's clear to everyone except the President that his big-government agenda is not working. We need to cut spending now in order to help create jobs in America. But we have no budget to clean up the mess. We have no plan to move free trade agreements that could create millions of American jobs, and we have no plan to stop the largest tax increase in history for American families and small businesses. Republicans are listening through America Speaking Out and offering better solutions that will limit the size of this government and empower small businesses across our country."

  • Hey Boehner, just how many so-called "free trade" agreements did you vote YES for?

  • John, as a fiscal conservative I wish we could trust you. Where were you when Bush was in charge? Why didn't you stand up then? I think it's great you are now courting us on the Right but you really need to do more than speeches to convince me you are what we need in DC.

  • So where are the jobs, John?

  • ..I used to think his last name was pronounced how it was spelled

  • "And in a positive step for women, the biggest bitch in Washington is John Boehner!"

  • He's such a liar, and he's certainly not fooling me. If he really cares about the deficit, why doesn't he cut military spending and corporate welfare for companies that ship jobs overseas?

  • He needs to lay off the booze and stop dumbing everything down...unless that is the speed he goes at?...and if that's the case we really are in trouble.

  • @thurmaw I hope beyond hope he becomes Speaker BUT has learned lessons from the past few years. I just Thank God I live in Florida where our Dems are more conservative than most GOP'rs up North lately. I still only would support a GOP candidate but I really really, did I mention really hope that Mr Boehner undoes alot of the things they supported. Before that though, Get back control and get rid of this stupid health care reform( call it what it is, a tax called a mandate)

  • THERE U GO AGAIN SAYING ' WHAT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT' CUZ U DON'T HAVE A CLUE.. FUCK OFF U PRICK

  • this guy is clown
