It's a good game to have for looking at the rough drafts of Street Fighter but to actually play it is a totally different story. It's pretty slow and the controls feel stiff so it will drive you crazy in no time flat

  • I wonder why the renamed it Fighting Street, possibly a type-o? Just reminds me of an adult Sesame Street ^_^

Also interesting fact, theres been several titles claiming to be Street Fighter's sequel before Capcom made SFII, Final Fight was Street Fighter II during development, and a company called Tiertex, who handled all the other home ports pitched to capcom their idea fro a sequel, which was rejected, but they later released as "Human Killing Machine".

  • Lol. I'm not sure about the name on it but Fighting Street for the pce was released in 1987/1988 for the PCE. Not sure when it made it's appearance as Street Fighter. Interesting about the human killing machine however.

  • lol @6:11 "...It's just not that fun." the games' shortcomings just wore you down. :)

  • @ScrewAttackEurope My guess is due to the copyrights back in the days. There is probably another product or game called Street Fighter that they have to rename it to something else.

  • that was supposed to had been st1 back in those days glad sf2 came out LoL.

  • Its scary to think that when the game came to Arcades here I don't think it was played much. I played the damn thing and got owned the first ,last and only time I played the game

  • TACTICS: Easy Special Moves + Stage Select + 7 Credits

Get a high score, and input ".SD"as your initials (look out for the . dot)

At the title screen, hold LEFT + I + II then press SELECT

If 'CREDIT 7' appears at the bottom of the screen, the trick has worked.

Starting the game opens the 'Stage Select', and during the game, press:

Forward + Select for 'Ha Dō Ken'

Down-forward + Select for 'Shō Ryu Ken'

Away + Select for 'Tatsumaki Sempū Kyaku'

  • It seem's like an Arcade Port to PCE

  • wow the first street fighter

  • Same Makes me want a Duo JUST for the game

  • Interesting, I guess adding a 2 on the end would also avouid the copyright.

  • Loving the arranged music here :D

  • Hudson and Capcom renamed this for the home version so they could avoid legal trouble from the movie studio who produced the "Street Fighter" action movies which Sonny Chiba stared in. By the time SFII came out, the copyright expired.

  • The engrish in,SF1 kills me every time. When the rounds starts it sounds like "Michaels"!Also when you win a round it sounds like "Oh Rats! to me.

  • Even though the controls in this game are severely WACK I still however enjoy playing the game. I love the mumberlin speech-just like the Arcade :).

  • Indeed, have a look at some of the videos of it on YT, especially Ashen's review of Human Killing Machine. and you'll see why this was a good idea not to associate this game with SF's legacy.

  • its really strange to look at the first street fighter and think capcom actually made this game LOL its an ok game but man as you say the controls are stiff on this..i played this on the pc and oh man i almost tossed my pc in anger :)
