Video of my '80 GMC General with an 8V92 Silver Detroit with 435 hp starting and running. I made this so people looking at it on ebay can see and hear it run. I have since sold this truck.

  • Is that the white General that had the exhaust leak?

  • @bj99ful Yes it is.

  • Looks and sounds great, I can't get enough of them Detroits. It appears that the tack cable is somehow hooked up to the oil pressure gauge though, lol !!!! Dan

  • @danfhowe It does appear that way doesn't it! Ha, Ha!

  • Sounds like the birds that fly in heaven.

  • Sex on wheels. Your video needs a R rating. Few engines sound good at every rev range but this is definitely one of them.

  • @SummitAggregates I forgot this is a 92 series, I know all about detroit oil pressures.

  • @SummitAggregates I was making a joke, I've worked on Detroits since the 70's. There isn't much about the 71 series I don't know. Sorry you took it seriously and didn't get the pun that was intended. Dan

  • @rustandgrease I've been searching for the right General...we had one with silver 92 for years...do you still have it? and if so, will you respond to me and show me how to reach you...we're in Colorado, but if you still have it, I will come see...Thanks

  • @danfhowe You must not be very familiar with two cycles?! Two strokes develop more oil pressure (up to 60 or 70 lbs) based directly on RPM's...and a two stroke can safely have 10 to 15 lbs at idle...but idle can comfortably be three to four hundred rpm or lower based on the size.
