How? I just don't see it. He's a good songwriter, I'll give him that. What is it about him or his music that has people so into him? Is it the Bowie-like androgyny? Is it the low-fi quality? This is screechy, and it sounds like he's making it up as he goes along... This is my perception. I know. I am criticizing, but I want to know why you all believe that he is amazing!!

Personally, I've never put him on a pedestal or anything, I think he's just a really good pop songwriter and an eccentric performer. The lo-fi quality definitely adds something to his music, I like how raw and almost childlike it is at times. I find his music to be very honest in a sense.

its kind of just one of those things. either you get it or you dont. not to be elitest. but usually when people complain about artists sounding like they "make it up as they go along" that usually means the composition is too complex for most people to follow.

listen to music that speaks to you and dont worry so much about what other people are into

such an otherworldly track. the atmosphere is almost nostalgic, but i've really never heard anything like this.

whenever I'd give rides to my little brother and his friends around town, I'd play this song after a couple minutes into the ride. After a couple hits of the bowl, one of them might say "Dude... what the fuck IS this?!" I can't think of too many other songs that are so awkwardly hilarious and offbeat like this song is, especially while toking around town.

Keep in mind that all these kids listen to is dubstep and artists like Tech N9ne and Andre Nickatina.
