Wow! This is probably the happiest I've ever been upon finding a video on YouTube!
Drink Me is one of my favorite bands. They're cleverer and more infectious than They Might Be Giants, under whose auspices their recording career began, and I'd pay virtually anything to have seen them live.
Mark Amft gave me a copy of the CD when we were neighbors on Union St. (Apt. 2L): a great little work, way head of its time. Much of it is unobtrusive but very tasty. In retrospect, the group might have (and might still) tried to sell licenses for its work in commercial settings (like recent Ditech and Travelocity ads--the accordion and uke are back!) the way Moby did ca. 2000. Keep on pushing the tracks. Certainly make some videos for the tunes and post them here.
I teach elementary school on Long Island. I still play guitar and write things. I remember the Fez gig well. Jeff's bassist was a fan. I was struck by how very different Drink Me was from Jeff. His work seemed much more...legitimate. So anyway some of my enterprising students Googled my name and found this video, which I had all but forgotten! I have a copy of an MTV promo video we did on VHS. Perhaps I should convert it & post?
they're playing at the Williamsburg Brooklyn Knitting Factory this weds, Mar 17 at 8pm.
