Forgiveness & Love: [Ep. 28]

Demi and Joe went into the hospital and Demi went straight to the front desk, asking for her grandfather. As soon as his room number was said and directions were given, they were on their way. They get to the hospital room. Demi takes a deep breath before entering. Joe wasnt so sure about whether to go in after her so he just stayed in outside, leaving Demi to her privacy.

Demi: -pulls he curtains away and sees her grandpa on the hospital bed, an IV stuck in his arm. She takes a seat on the chair next to it and just watched the machines that were hooked up to him. She stared at him, with his chest going slowly up and down and his eye lids closed-

Doc: -comes in-

Demi: Hi.

Doc: As you know, he has been fighting heart disease for a while now. Not to mention the Alzheimer's he has. He's dying. I think its time you let him go. He's lived his time, he deserves his rest. I know it'll be hard.

Demi: It wont be hard for him because he hardly remembers me.

Doc: For now, he's on life support. The machines are helping him breathe. I could-

Demi: Don't pull the plug just yet. Please.

Doc: Of course. You just tell me when you and your family are ready. I'm very sorry -leaves-

Demi looked at her grandpa again and felt sad. This was basically the only family she has. Now, he is about to. . go. She didnt know whether to cry or not. Was it a really big deal? She was close to her grandfather when she was younger but once he got diagnosed with Alzheimer's, he was like a stranger to her.

Joe: -comes in- Hey.

Demi: He's dying, Joe.

Joe: -frowns- Oh.. I'm sorry.

Demi: I feel like I dont know him anymore.

Joe: He's family to you.

Demi: I know. Lets just go. I wanna get out of here. Its making me sick.

Joe: Dont you wanna say goodye?

Demi: I'll be back. In a day or two. -looks at her grandfather again before taking a hold of Joe's hand and leaving with him-

They get to Joe's car and he helps her in. They were both quiet on the ride back to Joe's house.

Joe: -walks up the steps and takes his keys to open up the front door- You okay?

Demi: -nods, she smiles and takes his hand again as they go in-

Once inside, they see Dani, Kevin, Cameron and Adam in the living room, watching Toy Story 3.

Kev: -turns around as they comes in- Hey, guys.

Dani: Come and watch with us. We're only halfway through the movie.

Joe and Demi sit down on the couch next to Dani and Kevin. Demi scoots over closer to Joe and leans her head on his shoulder. With a headache, she closes her eyes and Joe puts his arm around her tired shoulder.

Joe: -leans down closer and whispers- Would you rather lay down in my room?

Demi: -shakes her head, her eyes still shut- I'm fine here.

{After the movie}

Joe: -taps on Demi's shoulder- Movie's over.

Demi: -open up her eyes & yawns, gets up, pulling Joe up with her. She sees Adam alseep on the floor-

Joe: You sure you wanna go home? You two seem very tired.

Demi: I dont wanna interfere.

Joe: You wouldnt be.

Demi: -narrows her eyes- Are you trying to get me in bed?

Joe: -his eyes widened- What? No.

Demi: -smirks- Sure.

Joe: Believe me when I say I'm not that kind of guy.

Demi: -giggles- Thanks, but its fine.

Joe: When can I see you again?

Demi: Well, I'm off to work tomorrow. Danielle is gonna babysit Adam. Maybe you and Adam could get to know each other, and when I come here to pick him up, we could all go out.

Joe: Okay. -smiles- I cant wait. I had a great time tonight.

Demi: Despite my grandpa, I had a good time too.

Joe: -chuckles and picks up Adam, goes out to Demi's car and he puts him in the back seat- Night.

Demi: -leans up to kiss his cheek. When she pulls away, Joe cups her face in his hands and presses his lips to hers, kissing her passionatley, their lips moving in sync-
