  • hes wrong, silva's first loss was to a brazilian.

  • Ummm, Cung's never been on a PPV..and you've probably never seen him fight either. Cung is seriously one of the best strikers in the world. He hasn't lost in San Shou and he hasn't lost in K-1..which is all striking. He snapped Franks arm in two and KOed a guy with a livershot with his toe. His ground game hasn't been seen at all, and I think Silva could dominate Le on the ground...but striking? not so much.

  • @InTheRainstorm When you say that Anderson Silva "Got caught", you are talking about how he took a handful of punches to the face in a 5 round fight. Heck, I bet Leites and Maia each got at least a few punches in on the feet against Silva too. But because some grapplers were able to tag Silva (and not for a second put him in danger on his feet), this somehow validates the past claims that Cung Le had a shot? No one even talks about him anymore. He's getting up there in age and he isn't active.

  • @Deej1188 Sila was "caught" by Sonnen in *the stand-up exchanges* (striking); obviously Sonnen's take-downs and so on were totally legit.

  • @InTheRainstorm I don't think Anderson "got caught" at all. He was out wrestled by one of the world's most highly decorated wrestlers. Chael wasn't boxing with Anderson at all, he just effectively mixed in a handful of strikes. Right, Le dropped his belt to go make a terrible movie. Yet people still thought he was a legit threat to Silva.

After JDS beat Werdum, people were excited. But nobody jumped the gun and said hes the GOAT. Cung Le beats up Frank Shamrock and suddenly everyone is nuts.

  • @Deej1188 Perhaps - although I think it's fair to say that Le "got caught" the first time by Smith (just like Silva "got caught" in the stand-up by Chael), who took a pretty comprehensive beating for two and half rounds from a guy who was coming back from a lay-off of more than two years (which is huge).

I wouldn't write off JDS based on his loss to some nobody in the early part of his career, you know?

  • @InTheRainstorm Don't mistake my debate with that guy with blind nuthuggery of Silva. I don't like Silva's attitude and I seriously wished Sonnen coasted that last 5 min. Having said that, I'll answer your question. Yes. Sonnen is a two time D-1 National Champ and Silver Medalist at the World Championships. He countered nearly every strike attempt with a takedown and even caught him standing a few times (didn't outbox). But if you get KOed by Scott Smith, perhaps you aren't better than Silva.

  • @Deej1188 Do you still feel the same way now we've seen Chael Sonnen not just take down Anderson at will but also outbox him?

  • Dana White should be call to Cung Le to fight against Anderson Silva or Lyoto Machida, Cung Le deserve fight for UFC title

  • I definitely would like to see Chun Le fight Anderson Silva. Silva is the favorite over Chun Le. Chun Le is on the decline from his prime. Chun Le is still a contender though. And everyone has a fighters chance.

  • And also, its not even that he Silva defeated top competition in Hendo, Franklin, and Marquardt...its HOW he defeated them. Forrest Griffin is still a top 10 LHW. Silva makes all these guys look like babies compared to their real skill.

Who besides maybe Fedor and Aoki outside the UFC can you really say has been given "tough" competition?
